“Sit for a Spell” at Hughes Park

West University Place Parks and Recreation is inviting all West U trick or treaters to come “sit for a spell” at the City’s newest neighborhood park, Jennie Elizabeth Hughes Park, 6446 Sewanee Ave. Parks staff will be on hand Oct. 31, 4:30-7:30 p.m., to offer insight into the park’s history and features as well as hand out special treats to the little ones. 

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the newly opened “quiet” park, which contains a large green space, a dry stream bed that comes to life with a button activated water feature, and a “front porch” complete with rocking chairs, reminiscent of the Hughes family home that once stood at the same location.
