TeenBookCon

TeenBookCon

TeenBookCon will return for its ninth year on March 24. Established by area school and public librarians and Blue Willow Bookshop, TeenBookCon’s mission is to connect teen readers with some of the best YA authors in the nation. Alumni from the 2017 TeenBookCon include #1 New York Times bestselling author and recipient of countless honors Angie Thomas, 2017 Printz Award-winner Nina LaCour, and finalist for the National Book Award for Young People’s literature, Laini Taylor.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sabaa Tahir will present the keynote address this year at a brand new location - Clear Springs High School. Tahir's An Ember in the Ashes series, which is inspired by global tragedies like child soldiers and the refugee crisis, has earned both popular and critical acclaim. She is a champion for representation of people of color, which she reflects on the covers of her books and beyond.

The other 26 authors scheduled to appear include Tomi Adeyemi (whose debut novel Children of Blood and Bone sparked a massive multi-house bidding war), Jessica Brody, Cecil Castellucci, Daniel Chacon, Mary H.K. Choi, Alexandra Christo, Dhonielle Clayton, Laura Creedle, Stephanie Garber, Maureen Johnson, Julie Kagawa, E. Lockhart, Tahereh Mafi, Houston author Jennifer Mathieu, Sandhya Menon, Abdi Nazemian, Daniel Jose Older, Brendan Reichs, Erika L. Sánchez, Neal Shusterman, Jessica Spotswood, Houston author Liara Tamani, Leah Thomas, graphic novelists Tillie Walden and Jen Wang, and F.C. Yee.

Each year, hundreds of readers come together to share the books that they've fallen for with like-minded people. TeenBookCon gives readers a chance to connect with authors, ask questions, and collect a few autographs along the way.

An autographing session at the end of the day will allow attendees to meet their favorite authors and have their books personalized. Blue Willow Bookshop is the official bookseller of TeenBookCon, and participants must purchase a book from Blue Willow to access the signing lines. A receipt from Blue Willow will also entitle attendees to bring 2 additional books from home to be signed.
