Virtual Candlelight Vigil for Domestic Violence Victims
Family violence service providers from across the Greater Houston area are holding a virtual, candlelight vigil in reverent memory of domestic violence victims and in celebration of survivors. All are invited to join via Daya and AVDA’s Facebook pages in the collective spirit of compassion and peace in our community.
In recognition of Houston’s religious diversity, tolerance, and acceptance, faith leaders from across our region’s religions (including the Baháʼí Faith, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Sikhism, and Zoroastrianism) are taking part in An Evening of Remembrance, Caring, and Hope. They will read the names of those who lost their lives to domestic violence in 2020 with Rev Harry B-Happy Bartholomew providing Gong Blessings.
That evening Houston City Hall will be lit in purple, the color for domestic violence awareness symbolizing survival, courage, and peace.
