West U Easter Spring Festival and Arbor Day
Budding trees and warmer temperatures herald the coming of spring and two annual West University Place traditions – the celebration of the Parks & Recreation Easter Spring Festival and Arbor Day. The two events are held together making for one perfect spring morning on Saturday, April 13, from 9-11 a.m. at the Recreation Center fields.
The event is family-friendly and has something fun for everyone. Children can enjoy bounce houses, a giant slide, an inflatable obstacle course, and mini-train rides, as well as activity booths offered by community partners. Bring your camera to take advantage of giant colored-egg selfie stations, snap a picture or two of the street performers, and of course, take photos with the Easter Bunny. Remember to bring your Easter basket – as prizes, including those for the winners of the Di-Eggo Counting Contest, will be given out.
There’s no better way to celebrate spring and especially Arbor Day than by planting a tree, and the West U Public Works Department urban forester will be giving trees away during the event. Trees will be given out on a first-come-first serve basis.
