Maisy
My name is Maisy – short for “Amazing.” In 2009, I was rescued by a Good Samaritan after being hit by a car. My femurs were broken, my hip shattered, and I had scrapes from being dragged. The main thing is that I was pregnant. I was taken to a shelter and had my seven puppies. Then, I had surgery. The doctor put my legs back together with pins. I couldn’t move my hind legs, so I used my nose and front legs to move my puppies to nurse. I was carried outside to use the bathroom. I went to physical therapy and even did water therapy. My people helped me exercise by having me walk on an air mattress and walking under a low bar to gain balance and strength. All my puppies were adopted to good homes, and in time, I healed. Now my favorite thing to do is chase squirrels. And rabbits. And dig holes. And run everywhere fast.
