Hands-on science
Horn Elementary’s fifth graders dissected frogs in their classrooms with teachers, parents and doctors on hand. Students learned about and explored the frogs’ muscular systems, vascular systems and internal organs. Laura Sloan (pictured) helped her son, Colin, look at the digestive system of the frog. Also working on the assignment were students Bennett Evans and Penelope Tucker. Penelope got instruction on what to do next from her mom, Tory Tucker, who is a surgical nurse.
