"Forty million. That's the number of displaced individuals and refugees today," a student said during a debate.
This Saturday DeBakey High School hosted its first JSA (Junior Statesmen of America) ChapterCon. JSA, a high school organization that dates back to 1934, encourages students to participate and have an active voice in events going on around them. Students from Carnegie Vanguard, Bellaire High School and Post Oak High School were also there to participate.
From Donald Trump's wall and drone strikes in the middle east to a satirical debate on the Kardashians, students had an opportunity to speak and hear other opinions on subjects found rather controversial today among politicians and people.
The next JSA event will be Fall State in Austin, Texas, where students will come together to share their thoughts and opinions, as well as meet others from across the state.
