Will Millennials Ever Outearn Their Parents? Panel Discussion at Rice’s Jones School
For generations, the American dream has proposed that each generation deserves a prosperous future – and has a right to expect it. Now new research from McKinsey Global Institute shows this may no longer be realistic.
On April 11, a panel discussion at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business featuring Rice and McKinsey and Co. experts will explore this research and the question “Will Millennials Ever Outearn Their Parents?”
Hosted by the Jones School in partnership with McKinsey and Co., the event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
Panelists include: Peter Rodriguez, dean, Jones Graduate School of Business; Anu Madgavkar, partner, McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), and co-author of MGI’s July 2016 report, “Poorer Than Their Parents? Flat or Falling Incomes in Advanced Economies”; Scott Nyquist, senior partner, McKinsey & Co.; Patty Bender, partner, Vista Private Equity Group; and Moshe Vardi, Rice's Karen Ostrum George Distinguished Service Professor in Computational Engineering and director of the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology.
In both the United States and Western Europe, millennials of all backgrounds are facing flat or falling incomes compared to those of their parents, according to MGI’s report. The panelists will explore the causes and such questions as whether all millennials think this is a problem.
