Ingredients:
Biscuit Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon Cream of Tartar
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 stick salted butter
2⁄3 cup milk
Hamburger Gravy Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
¼ cup flour to start, plus extra for desired thickness of gravy
¼ cup milk (more if necessary)
Salt and pepper
Recipe directions:
For biscuits: Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in one stick of salted butter. Then slowly mix in milk. Roll the dough (use extra flour to keep from sticking) and cut the biscuits with a round glass or biscuit cutter. Put the scraps together into one big biscuit. It often ends up being the best one. Bake for 12 minutes at 450 degrees. Remove from oven.
Hamburger Gravy: Brown ground beef in a large frying pan. Do not drain. Stir in a little flour to brown. Continue stirring and add milk (possibly more flour) until desired thickness. Add salt and pepper. Serve on biscuits.
