Chili out
Supporters of Casa de Esperanza de los Niños gathered at Kirby Ice House for the 8th annual Chili Cook-Off, co-chaired by Elizabeth and Josh Blount, Mary Ann Cuellar and Richard Mason, and Annie Daugherty and Albert Spiers. The non-profit helps break the cycle of child abuse and neglect through residential and aftercare programs. Over 30 teams competed for the coveted title of Best Chili. The first-place winning team was “It’s Always Yummy in Chilidelphia,” with (pictured, from left) Taylor Russel, Jacob Melancon, Patrick Broussard, Stephen Newton, Brandon Harrison, Scott Ivers and Tony Tortorice. The cook-off raised $50,000. The Building Hope for Children Gala is April 22 at The Hobby Center for Performing Arts. For tickets, see casahope.org.
