Stop the presses
Stratford Playhouse will present Disney’s Newsies the Musical Jan. 31-Feb. 9 under the direction of its artistic director, CeCe Prudhomme. A smash Broadway musical, Newsies is set in turn-of-the-century New York City and tells the tale of Jack Kelly (played by Hudson Brown), a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against unfair conditions and fight for what’s right. Other lead “newsies” include Catherine Richard (Katherine Plumber), Colter Ivey (Joseph Pulitzer), Rachel Harsley (Medda Larkin), Andrew Walker (Davey) and Brett Payne (Crutchie). Tickets are $17 and performances are scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and 9. See shsplayhouse.org.
