Unity on the court
The Pin Oak Middle School seventh-grade girls’ basketball team (pictured, wearing blue) placed first among several public and private schools in a recent tournament. Pin Oak hosted the tournament, and after playing three games, the home-court girls were named champs. Second place went to Pin Oak rivals Pershing Middle School. In a wonderful display of sportsmanship, the two teams gathered for a group photo, titled it “Unity,” and sent it to both school principals. "What a great group of student athletes!" said Pin Oak principal Michelle Shoulders. The Pin Oak champions are Allie Maglaras, Ann Marie Mullen, Riley Tackett, Dazmine Gay, Elisa Adams, Ainsley Pinkerton, Maddie Vollrath, Ashley York, Anne Franke, Thalia Vogelsang, Penny Meehan and coach Howard Frazier. The Pershing Pandas are coach Kelly Ray, manager Sarah Gregory, Lana Hernandez, Taniya Richard, Elizabeth Kortum, Reagan Johnson, Reagan Clemons, Rhylei Hendrick, Destiny Miller, Marley Polidore, Miriam Moshay and Jayla London.
