Top scores on stage
Members of Memorial Dance Center’s competitive team (pictured) were showered with awards at the Dupree Dance competition held at the Westin Galleria. The girls began the weekend taking classes from some of the industry’s top instructors, and then spent the evening hours competing with routines they have been working on since August. Five of MDC’s dances earned first place overall, the highest score for the age group among all dance styles. In addition, the MDC Diamond team received the highest score for the entire competition for their contemporary dance “Left Behind.” The highlight of the evening was when MDC premiered their production number “Break Out” with 52 dancers on stage together, ranging in age from 8 to 18.
