The Society of Iranian-American Women for Education held its gala event at LifeHTX to celebrate the Iranian/Persian new year (Nowruz) and to honor its Texas college and university scholarship recipients. A wall projection of cherry blossoms swaying in the breeze provided a wow and ambient spring background as the 200-plus guests mingled. A short video of the celebration in countries worldwide was projected as keynote speaker Dr. Mahnaz Afkhami, event chair Heidi Kashani and auction chair Neekie Kashani spoke. A magician from Magic Island and DJ Radu Jon, “The Violin Guy,” entertained. In the crowd were Ambassador Hushang Ansary and Shahla Ansary, Monsour Taghdisi, Henry Richardson and Nazey Azimpoor.
