Genesys Works, a program that teaches in-demand technical and professional skills to high school students, will host its inaugural Ambassadors Luncheon Sept. 26 at River Oaks Country Club to raise funds and inspire action. Table-talk discussions will focus on diversity, access and opportunity with Genesys Works intern ambassadors from more than 30 high schools in five Houston-area districts. Co-chaired by Myrtle Jones (pictured, fourth from right) of Halliburton and Elisabeth Nash (third from right) of SCI, the afternoon will highlight the importance of early and equal access to work-based learning opportunities for up-and-coming talent. Both women have successfully championed the Genesys Works program at their respective companies, offering paid, yearlong internships to more than 100 high school interns each. The event will also feature special guest and keynote speaker Lisa Fitzpatrick, president of Bloomberg Tax. Pictured are (from left) Genesys Works board members Katherine Taylor, Adam Barth, Ray Messer, Reggie Huerta (a program alum), Marian Davenport, Jones, Nash, Jerry Lasco and Liz Sweigart. Tickets to the inaugural Ambassadors Luncheon are $250 per person, with tables starting at $5,000. See genesysworks.org/Houston.
