Bunker Hill Elementary School Girl Scout Troop #126123

In order to complete their Brownie Quest project, Bunker Hill Elementary School Girl Scout Troop #126123 connected with a local nonprofit called Houston Welcomes Refugees. The organization helps legal refugees settle in Houston. One service they provide is to give child refugees a backpack filled with school supplies. Michelle Rigo, a BHE mom and a regular sponsor of the charity, explained to the fourth-grade Scouts about the legal process refugees go through in order to arrive in the U.S. Then, the BHE troop funded and packed 20 backpacks full of supplies for Houston Welcomes Refugees. Pictured are (top row, from left) troop leaders Callie Ezell, Claire Zurek, Marcy Crapitto and project host Michelle Rigo; (middle row, from left) Ella Zenner, Avery Ezell, Olivia Zurek, Olivia Moore, Greer Crapitto, Julia Alkhadour, Meredith Paulson, Sophie Olivares, Gigi Mejia, Harper Green, Liv Chalmers; (front row, from left) Phoebe Phan, Linsey Langford, Sarah Jung, Danna Sun, Catherine Brack, Charlotte Schuetze, Emery Jones, Mary James Roark, Kate Bonner, Lucy Rose Harris and Anna Elisa Hedemann.
