11th Annual Yaga's Chili Quest & Beer Fest
Yaga’s hosts their annual Chili Quest and Beer Fest on Friday and Saturday, which will include the popular chili and beer tasting plus live music, a 5K Fun Run/Walk, a washer pitching tournament, a jackpot margarita contest, vendors and a historical strand merchant walk-about, plus the Craft Beer Festival.
14th Annual MLK Youth Parade in Midtown
The MLK Youth Parade will kick off the 2020 MLK holiday weekend, Saturday at noon. The parade originates at San Jacinto Street and Elgin Street and is free and open to the public. There will be 10 parade floats and 20 marching bands.
Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Houston Half Marathon
It's race weekend! The Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Houston Half Marathon takes place on Sunday starting at Congress & San Jacinto. RunFest takes place at Jones Lawn at Discovery Green, 5 a.m.-2:30 p.m. See the full race weekend schedule here and course information here.
MATCH Family Fun Day
MATCH-Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston presents the 5th annual MATCH Family Fun Day on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Free and open to the public, MATCH hosts a day of performances and family-friendly activities such as bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists, stilt walkers, chalk artists and more.
26th Annual MLK Grande Parade In Midtown Houston
The MLK Grande Parade in Midtown is one of the largest single-day multicultural events in the US held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The parade takes place on Monday starting at 10 a.m. and begins at San Jacinto Street and Elgin Street. This year’s theme is: the color of Unity.
MLK Day Celebration at the Children's Museum
The Children’s Museum of Houston will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a celebration on Monday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Special events include the Ebony Opera Guide, Peach March, a recitation of the famous “I Have a Dream Speech” and there will be ongoing activities throughout the day, such as Dream Clouds, in which kids can share their dreams for changing the world.
42nd Annual Original MLK Day Parade
The Black Heritage Society and the City of Houston will host the 42nd Annual “Original” Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade on Monday with Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman as the Grand Marshal. The celebration, beginning at 10 a.m., will showcase a variety of marching bands, decorated floats, dance teams, military and ROTC groups, first responders, city and county officials, VIP guest appearances and notable organizations from around the world. Following the parade, the celebration will move to Sam Houston Park for the 4th Annual MLK, Jr. Taste of Houston festival.
