In the ring
Thomas Edwards, a 2018 graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, won the 147-pound weight class as a first-time boxer at Bengal Bouts, an annual charity boxing tournament hosted by the Men's Boxing Club at the University of Notre Dame. The tournament aired on ESPN, and proceeds benefited the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh. This was Thomas’ first time boxing at Notre Dame, where he is a sophomore studying economics and political science and minoring in constitutional studies. In each bout, Thomas’ opponent was a grade or two older. All judges voted unanimously, with the exception of the semifinals, where the judges awarded Thomas the winner by split decision. Thomas (pictured, on right, with opponent Evan Muller, a junior, on left), wrestled while at Strake Jesuit, where he was a two-time letterman.
