Lending a helping hand
Eddie Kalmin, Matthew Newman, Andrew Newman, Jason Shwartz, Josh Kaplan and Evelyn Burt volunteered at Bethel’s Heavenly Hands, an organization that provides basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter to neighbors who are struggling during the pandemic. With a group of 62 volunteers from Congregation Beth Yeshurun’s social action team, the boys participated in a two-day outreach program. The volunteers sorted and organized donations, and prepared and distributed food to help thousands of people. Bethel’s Heavenly Hands needed more assistance than usual to accommodate the thousands of additional families who are now relying on their support, and Congregation Beth Yeshurun answered the call with a record number of volunteers.
