Baseball-backstop makeover
The baseball backstops at the Memorial Middle School ballfields are greatly improved thanks to the hard work of a group of Eagle Scouts. Parker Samuelson, Josh Hyland, Chase Cole, John Perez, Colin Tenney, Rudy Brooks, Craig Brothers, and Marc Samuelson (pictured, back row, from left); Allen Brothers and Raleigh Burton (front row, from left), along with others not pictured – Gregory Khouri, Matthew Seiler, Michael Benes, Cody Gustafson, Will Latiolais, Luke Kovacs, Jeff Kovacs, and scoutmaster Mark Dessens – spent 10 hours working on the improvements. The manual labor came after countless hours of meetings and planning to make the new backstops a reality. The materials for the project were graciously sold to the group at cost by Ward Scholl of Scholl Lumber Company. Many of the boys have played baseball, and were honored to give back to the fields where they spent so much time as ball players.
