Emily and Brandon Jalnos welcomed Mila Blake Jalnos Feb. 9, 2021. They spent several days at home together before the winter storm hit Houston and they lost power. Emily’s brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Alli Feinstein, invited them to stay at their home because they have a generator and kept power. Mila enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with her aunt, uncle, and cousins Joshua, George, and Julia. Emily, a first-time mom, appreciated getting questions answered from sister-in-law Alli, such as a tutorial for how to bathe a newborn. “All moms should get a ‘mentor mom’ to live with a few days,” Emily said. “What could have been a very scary situation was saved by family!” Brandon stayed home to take care of their dogs, Hoosier and Olive, and visited the Feinsteins throughout the storm. It was a memorable first week of life for Mila. The whole family, including grandparents Judy and Michael Feinstein and Sheryl and Joey Jalnos, were thankful Mila remained safe and warm through the storm.
