The newly formed JDRF Southern Texas Chapter, which includes supporters from Houston, San Antonio/South Central, and the Austin area, had a virtual gala that raised $3.4 million for type 1 diabetes research. Drew Dougherty of Texans TV emceed the evening, which featured testimonials, a live auction, and a Fund A Cure call to action. The night ended with entertainment by Kenny Loggins. Some participants enjoyed the virtual event in their PJs, and others took JDRF up on the opportunity to host full-service, in-home celebrations with gourmet meals.
