Happy Friday! There are lots of fun happenings to look forward to this weekend, including:
Mistletoe Market and Movie Under the Stars in Midtown
Mistletoe Market is returning to Bagby Park tonight, 5-10 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The holiday market extravaganza includes colorful decor, handmade holiday gifts, treats, music and performances, food, craft music, and more. On Saturday, stick around for a free screening of holiday classic Home Alone, at 7 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended.
Christmas Village at Bayou Bend
After a two-year hiatus, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, brings back the beloved Christmas Village event at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, including a trail of lights, carolers, a hand-crafted model train, and holiday-themed tours of the first floor of Ima Hogg’s historic mansion. Christmas Village kicks off tonight, 5:30 p.m., and continues through Dec. 30. Photos with Santa ($10) are available through Dec. 23. General admission: $15 adult and youth ages 13+; $10 child (ages 4-12); free for child ages 4 and younger.
Party at the Pavilion
PATRONS for Bellaire Parks and the City of Bellaire hosts Party at the Pavilion tonight, featuring Already Gone (Eagles Tribute Band). The free, outdoor concert will take place at Bellaire Town Square starting at 7 p.m. Lankford’s will be selling a selection of their burgers and other dishes, and CounterCommon will sell beer. Join neighbors for the last Party at the Pavilion of the year.
AIA 13th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off
Architecture Center Houston will host the 13th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off at Levy Park on Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Competing teams will create 100 percent edible, architectural masterpieces using gingerbread, candy, and all sorts of other sweet treats (of which leftovers will be composted)! More than 4,000 spectators are expected to attend and cheer on the teams, play in the kids' construction zone, and see Santa. All of the entertainment is free and open to the public.
Human Rights Day Programming at Holocaust Museum Houston
Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) is hosting free admission on Human Rights Day this Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Presented by Perry Homes Foundation, visitors can celebrate Human Rights Day by exploring the Museum’s galleries and participating in family-friendly programming, including drop-in towns, bilingual storytime, arts and crafts for kids, a talk with Holocaust survivor Dr. Anna Steinberger, a children’s magic show with second-generation Holocaust survivor Hy Penn, and a performance by Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus. Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10 — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks
The Houston Rockets face off against the Milwaukee Bucks at Toyota Center, Sunday, 6 p.m.
