International angler
Pamela Basco (pictured, on right), an accomplished light-tackle angler, was recently inducted into the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) Hall of Fame. Each year, the IGFA recognizes five people for their extraordinary achievements in recreational fishing. Pam grew up fishing with her family at their vacation home on Galveston Bay. As she got older, bay trips turned into offshore excursions 150 miles into the Gulf of Mexico. Since then, she has traveled around the world targeting world-record fish in top destinations. During her time on the water, Pamela set multiple world records including reeling in a 203-pound, 8-ounce yellowfin tuna, in Kona, Hawaii, which still stands as the IGFA women’s 20-pound line class world record to this day. Outside of her record-setting achievements, one of her fondest angling memories was catching an 850-pound black marlin on the Great Barrier Reef.
