Houston Christian HS takes New York
Rain in the Big Apple didn’t keep the Houston Christian High School (HCHS) dancers (pictured) from performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Twenty-one girls who are part of the school’s DOXA Dance Company and the Silver Spurs Drill Team auditioned and were invited to perform with the Spirit of America Dancing Stars. The girls traveled to New York to march the 2.5-mile route from Central Park West to 34th Street, arriving at 7th Avenue in front of Macy’s Herald Square where they performed a choreographed routine televised on NBC. When they weren’t marching or dancing, the girls found time to take in a Broadway show and watch the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. The HCHS dancers are (in alphabetical order): Emilie Abraham, Leah Babbitt, Camille Bavaro, Georgia Bedre, Camella Brown, Kaylin Caesar, Mia Chieng, Amelia Cooper, Riley Devlin, Kenny Erler, Ellie Kay Eubanks, Elizabeth Fuselier, Brianna Lemon, Carley Martin, Elizabeth Mason, Alyssa Melton, Payton Mitchell, Abby Pisklak, Taylor Williford, Olivia Wilson, and Charlotte Young.
