Becket
I’m Becket. I’m the luckiest poodle around. My story began in New Orleans, where I was bred as a show dog. After going to “handler school,” breaking a leg and living in a crate almost all day the first year of life, my adult teeth grew in crooked. I went from possible winner to total “loser” and rejected. My parents rescued me and brought me to Houston. They patiently trained me. I loved the freedom and attention. I would do anything for them. Nothing could steal my joy. Then, my mom asked me to be a therapy dog. I was in after only one training session! I visit senior homes, memory care, veterans, and stressed students. I sleep in strangers’ laps. It’s a lovefest for all. At home I play with my sister cat, Tutu, and lots of toys. When I’m really happy on walks, I do a handstand and pee backwards. I’m a winner, after all!
