Let’s face it: Many of us make at least a few New Year’s resolutions each year. And each year, it’s not so easy to accomplish goals such as “become more organized” or “live a healthier lifestyle.”
Today, we’re looking back at Anna Jones’ story. At the start of 2012, she jumped into a project to maintain her New Year’s resolutions – a set of seven goals, each to be accomplished 100 times over the year. She planned systematically and successfully tracked her progress with her goals, which included exercising, reading, attending social events, and trying new recipes - in a lined notebook. Read the whole story to find out how she did it.
We checked in with Anna to see if she’s made any new resolutions since this project. She told us that, although it was fun to make and track these resolutions for a year, she’s “been there, done that!” and isn’t making any resolutions this year.
But it seems like she’s inspired people around her to create and keep similar goals. One friend planned to have a game night with her family once per month; another friend resolved to do something with her mother-in-law six times a year, and another friend strived to make 52 new cookie recipes in a year.
Interested in taking on a similar project? Anna suggest: “My only advice is to spread your goal over a long time period (like a year) because that way if a day or a week slips by, you can make up the difference in another week or month.”
Let us know – did you make any resolutions this year? If so, how is it going so far?
