The 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival Celebration

The 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival Celebration (operating under The Chinese New Year Festival Inc.), will take place on Feb. 21, 2015, at Discovery Green. The event is open to the general public. Houston Mayor Annise Parker is Chairperson of this year's event and Honorary Chairs for the event include Congressman Al Green (9^th Congressional District), Senator Rodney Ellis and State Representative Gene Wu. The Festival will be Co-chaired by Richard Nguyen, Houston City Council Member District F.

This year's festival marks the first time the multi-cultural event will be held in downtown Houston bringing together diverse groups of the community to celebrate this annual Asian New Year event.

For the festival, Southern News will team up with more than 100 companies and organizations from the many diverse communities of Houston, offering a series of displays, food booths, entertainment, acrobats, lion dancers, world-class Shaolin Temple Wushu martial arts demonstrations and games and door prizes for all ages. Activities are selected to compliment this great and exciting celebration with lively entertainment for the entire family. The Texas Lunar New Year Festival celebration is the largest celebration of the Asian New Year in the southwestern United States. It is a one-of-a-kind family oriented event that attracts large numbers of people from every ethnic group.
