Duchesne Academy Plants a New Oak Tree

A Tradition Lives On

Earlier this year, Duchesne Academy suffered the loss of a true emblem of the Sacred Heart in the form of the iconic Oak Tree. But this Tuesday, the school honored the sanctity of the Sacred Heart Oak by gathering the community for a celebratory blessing and replanting of a new Oak; a promise for the preservation of tradition and the continued provision of peace.

A fully grown Oak was transported via crane to the precise location of our former fallen hero. Ensuing the planting of the tree, Sr. Ann Caire and Sr. Sharon Karam blessed the new member of our little community with a prayer and a dash of Holy water.

Following the official sanctification of the Oak, students, faculty and staff congregated around the newly inducted member of the Duchesne family to take in its beauty and say a prayer or a few words of blessing themselves.

Though the original Sacred Heart Oak will forever be in our hearts, this new symbol of protection, grace and serenity in our community represents the respect for past Duchesne generations and the hope for the future girls of the Sacred Heart.
