Contest Rules and Guidelines

Eligibility: This is a local photo contest intended for amateur photographers residing in The Buzz Magazines’ circulation area. Professional photographers, both full- and part-time, will be disqualified. Any photographer who charges a fee or sells photos of any kind, for any amount, will be disqualified.

Timing: Photos must have been taken within the past 12 months.

Entry deadline: May 15, 2025, 11:59 p.m. (no exceptions)

Categories: 

  • Animals (wild, domesticated and farm animals)
  • Landscapes (including urban)
  • Nature (e.g., wildlife, plants, birds, insects, close-ups of natural scenes and textures)
  • People and Portraits
  • Sports, Action, and Other

Number of Entries: You may enter as many photos as you like per category.

Submission guidelines: All entries must be submitted via our website. Photos cannot be accepted via e-mail or on disc. Please submit photos as high resolution as possible within the upload size limit (5 MB).

Winners: Winning photos will be published in our July 2025 print issue and will also be published on our website by July 1, 2025. 

Prize: Our grand prize winner will receive a Weekend Getaway Package for Two at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa which includes luxury accommodations on Friday and Saturday evening, a $150 Credit at TRIBUTE Restaurant, access to the exclusive Houstonian Club and three temperature-controlled resort pools.

Judging: Judging will be performed by The Buzz Magazines. All decisions are final and at the sole discretion of The Buzz Magazines.

Photo release: By entering this contest, permission is hereby granted to The Buzz Magazines to publish and use this photo in print, online, and in social media. The photographer retains ownership and copyright of the photo.
