Todd and Hayley Stewart and their family are saving lives in their Memorial home through Pets for Vets Houston, a nonprofit that provides professionally trained shelter dogs as companions for military veterans with PTSD, anxiety or depression – at no cost to the veterans. Training takes three months; during that time, the dog-in-training lives in foster care. The Stewarts are fostering Gracie, a shepherd mix. Pictured (from left) are Annie Stewart, Gracie, volunteers and Memorial residents Jessica Devitt and Marleen Bergman, and trainer Cherry Windinger. Veterans are on a waiting list because of the need for foster families. To foster, contact Pets for Vets Houston at [email protected].
