Friends of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, along with four other churches including Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church and Tallowood Baptist Church, invite volunteers to join Super Place Camp, a week-long Vacation Bible School geared toward children, teens and young adults with special needs, like Alexa Smith (pictured, with parents Paul and Cindy Smith). Alexa has been a camper for 12 years, and her parents have been volunteers for five years. The camp will take place at Chapelwood, 11140 Greenbay St., Aug. 3-7, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A teen or adult buddy is assigned to each camper to provide one-on-one attention, and a nurse is on site. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Karen Lopes, director of special needs ministry, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church at [email protected].
