Science of winning
Kendall Koster (pictured) took home the grand prize for her fifth-grade class at Rummel Creek Elementary at the school’s annual science fair. Her entry was about evaporative cooling; she set out to find out if you can create cold air through the evaporation of ice. She found that her hypothesis that ice cools the air as it evaporates was correct. Students from all grades participated in the event. They conducted their experiments at home and then presented their findings at the fair.
