Graffiti’s at Union Street (Closed)
I stumbled upon this nostalgia-filled, Washington Avenue-area, counter-service find. From old signs and posters on the walls to Astrodome memorabilia at the tables, this place felt like going back home. The craft-beer selections are from local favorites such as Lone Pint, Saint Arnold and Karbach. I got to know my Lone Pint Zeno’s Pale Ale, with hints of citrus and pine, and chose the 409ER – a classic burger with smoked cheddar, mixed greens, house-made pickles, tomato, grilled onions and bacon chunks. Other comfort-food options include chicken fried steak, pork chops, rib eye steak and fried chicken. Service was a little slow when I went, but, since they make everything from scratch, including the bread and grinding the mixture of choice chuck with brisket and short rib, I figured some patience was in order.
