Paulette Levine looked out her window and saw neighbor Mary Reed’s house on fire in the front “computer” room. Mary, who teaches geography and sponsors a World Cultures club, was at work at Memorial High while 10 fire trucks and 45 firefighters came to her home. She got home just in time to see her whole house go down in flames the day before her notorious pajama party for 50 friends and nine days before Christmas. Her friends didn’t want her to miss the P.J. party when they could offer a stocking full of useful goods and a warm hug. The party was carried out at Denise Eckhardt’s nearby home. Memorial High School and Houston Junior Forum are taking donations to help Mary get back on her feet, beyond where insurance will leave off. Checks to Mary Reed can be mailed to Houston Junior Forum at P.O. Box 7941, Houston, Texas, 77270.
