Chopsticks
A two-week Japan getaway was a sushi delight for Liz and Tom Glanville, along with kids Mackenzie and Pierce, who are middle schoolers at River Oaks Baptist School. Liz and Tom’s adult daughter Ali joined them from New York City, where she works for Diane Von Furstenberg as regional manager for Asia Pacific and South America. After a tour of Tokyo and Hakone, the family planned to climb Mount Fuji, but Typhoon Halong left them winded. They “brushed” on to the art island at Benesse and to Hiroshima and Kyoto. They got up at 2:30 a.m. one morning to watch a fish auction. Afterward they took sushi-making lessons, using the fish purchased at the auction. Tuna anyone?
