Wives leave town
Two former neighbors, Marilyn Waldman and Dava McWhorter, always wanted to go on a safari. Their husbands, Jerry Waldman and Mac McWhorter, who like to travel, couldn’t have cared less to be a voyeur to beasts. So off the women went on a 12-day tour of South Africa that started in Cape Town. Zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and leopards gave them a thrill. They fed giant elephants and petted a tame cheetah, all under control. At Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held, they got the scoop from their guide, who said he had been imprisoned with him. With safaris at Kruger National Park and Sabi Sabi and the beautiful Victoria Falls, their mission was accomplished.
