Happy Friday! Here are some upcoming events to check out this weekend and next week.
Friday Night Flicks
Tonight will be in the low 60s, so grab a blanket, friends and family and enjoy a relaxing Friday night outdoors at Discovery Green watching Oz. It’ll be magical. See the details.
Calling all Bookworms
For the bookworm in your family, head over to Spring Oaks Middle School for their Bookworm Festival, open to the public, on Saturday morning. Your young readers will have the opportunity to meet some favorite authors face-to-face, such as Deborah Freedman, Tad Hills, Dan Santat, Jennifer Hamburg, and Dan Hanna. See the details.
Marathoning
Cheer on runners and support friends and family at the Memorial Hermann USA Fit Marathon, Fort Bend Kia Half Marathon and Humana Vitality Family Friendly 5K this Saturday. There’ll be a post-race BBQ and plenty of other food and fun. See the details.
Souper, Super Bowl
For many Houstonians, there’s really only one event of any importance this weekend: The Super Bowl. Whether you’re watching for the game, great commercials, or you’re just enjoying the food and fun with friends and family, it’s on everyone’s minds right now.
But don’t forget that there’s still time to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring to help provide donations to the Houston Food Bank. Most likely, you’ll be at a grocery store anyway stocking up! Learn more about the Souper Bowl of Caring in this Q&A with Memorial High School student Sarah Kate Thomas and be sure to participate this weekend.

Eye on Photography
Starting Tuesday, the Museuem of Fine Arts Houston debuts their annual photography exhibition, Eye on Houston: High School Documentary Photography, which offers a view of Houston through the eyes of students. The exhibit features photographs by students from three local high school, including Bellaire High School. Our very own Mackenzie Ward, School Buzz editor at Bellaire High School, has a photo on display. See the details.
