Honoring our veterans
Students at The Regis School took time to honor service men and women and all veterans during a prayer service held on Veterans Day. As others around our city had the day off from work and school, students at Regis saluted veterans during a morning prayer service featuring speaker Dr. Robert Ivany, president of St. Thomas University, members of the Scarborough High School JROTC, who presented the colors, the Regis bell choir and a video presentation about Father Emil Kapaun, U.S. Army chaplain. Middle school students honored service men and women with specially designed posters, which were hung for several days on the fence surrounding The Regis School. This is a tradition which began nine years ago when middle school social studies teacher Cathy Boates began asking students to recognize military veterans.
