Last week, St. Agnes Academy’s V.O.B.Y. (Voices of Black Youth) hosted their annual assembly in honor of Black History Month. Among the activities were performances from our dance team, Shock, the amazing “step team” and a very special appearance by Yolanda Adams, a renowned Gospel singer.

Step team has been at St. Agnes for years. The group dances to beats made by a series of complex stomps, claps, and other moves and motions - no music allowed! V.O.B.Y. also had a group of students, as well as a faculty member, talk about their experiences dealing with race and how it affected their perspectives. The assembly was an important reminder of how we should celebrate everyone, no matter what race they may be.
