Scouts on the run
Girl Scout Troop 18876 participated in the Harmony Creek Community track meet at Stratford High School. The goals of the meet were to have fun, promote fitness and introduce girls to track and field events. The fourth-grade scouts from Bunker Hill Elementary spent the day racing in the 50-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter races, and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. They also competed in field events, including the softball throw, jump rope and long jump. The girls received several first-place ribbons. Displaying their ribbons for the 4x100 relay are (pictured, from left) Ella Davison, Katie Van Arsdel, Kate Pounds and Kaitlyn Zhu. Other troop members who participated in the meet are Madie Barrow, Cate Biar, Hannah Brenner, Morgan Brenner, Isabella Carles, Annabelle Langford and Caroline Youngjohn. All scouts at the meet brought donations for Citizens for Animal Protection and received a Girl Scout patch for participating.
