Skip delivery. Try make-your-own pizza at home and incorporate lots of veggies. (Photo: www.lawellphoto.com)
It’s halfway through the workweek and it feels, at least to us, like a great night for a laid-back, easy dinner. If you’re looking to use veggies you probably already have in the house and to make a quick and family-friendly meal, try make-your-own pizza.
This combination was originally mentioned in our September 2012 “What’s For Dinner” article and can be changed up depending on your taste and what you already have in the house.
Try using:
Ready-made crust at the store (you can use a prepared pizza crust or even pita bread or Indian Naan bread for smaller, personal pizzas)
Store-bought tomato sauce
Shredded cheese (mozzarella, Parmesan, feta, or use a combination of your favorites)
Meats (pepperoni, cooked bacon, sliced Canadian bacon, Italian sausage)
Bake in the oven (prepare according to what kind of crust you’ve bought and how crunchy you’d like your pizza). You can make a pizza covered in veggies or use a combo of meat and veggies, according to what you and your family are looking for tonight.
Be sure to share with us what you’re eating as part of the Veg Out initiative. Share your recipes, photos, and experiences with us.
