Cheer extreme

Frostwood Elementary fifth graders Courtney Frederking and Lindsey Farber (pictured, from left) competed at the United Cheer national competition in Galveston. Both girls are members of Apex Cheer’s Team Summit, a youth level-2 team. The girls travel to regional and national competitions, where the team performs high-energy routines. Athletes are judged on difficulty, execution, dance, pyramid, tumbling and jumps. As the season progresses, the coaches add difficulty to the routines, culminating in cheer nationals season in the spring. Frederking’s and Farber’s favorite parts of cheering are the friendships they make on the team and watching their routines improve during the season.
