Dads all in
The fifth annual “Dads All In for MDE” poker tournament was another record-breaking event. Since its creation in 2010 by David Shine, a devoted Memorial Drive Elementary fundraising ambassador, this event has generated over $150,000. This year’s bounty was particularly impressive, bringing in more than $47,000. Over 76 dads, including Joe Bob Edwards and David Pluchinsky (pictured, from left), purchased a registration ticket for the poker tournament at the annual MDE school auction, which was held in early February. Of those, 10 lucky winners took home extravagant prizes, such as custom boots, golfing packages, instant wine cellars and all-inclusive fishing excursions. Winners included: 10th place, Mike Reeves, 9th place, Shine, 8th place, Bryan Hash, 7th place, Brian Hoogendam, 6th place, Bob Stephan, 5th place, Tull Florey, 4th place, Richard Whitely, 3rd place, Michael Roa, and 2nd place, Edwards, and tournament champion, Pluchinsky.
