Great minds
West University Elementary was represented by 15 teams at the Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament. Pictured (from left) are students Neela Ravi, Nathan Giang, Andrew Nanna, Nicholas Hanson, Mary Sydnor Duffy, Kate Jeong and Lucy Ginzel. In Odyssey of the Mind, students work creatively in groups to solve problems. West U Elementary had eight non-competitive/primary (K-2) teams and seven competitive (grades 3-5) teams working on problems that ranged from a runaway train to producing a silent movie and building a structure out of balsa wood and glue and testing its resistance to different weights. Three of the West U competitive teams moved on to the state competition.
