Recently, Memorial High School’s theater performed the onstage version of High School Musical. After months of rehearsals, the theater department was rewarded with a full house for both of the nights they performed.
The childhood characters of Gabriella Montez and Troy Bolton were portrayed by Leela Rao and Connor Pence, respectively. Their powerful vocals were accompanied by the choreography of Kelly Bisignano.

As for the purpose of picking High School Musical this season, Jay Matthew, the director of the performance said, “The vision was...something that was good and not only kid friendly, but...the kids, the seniors - some of the juniors and sophomores as well - something they loved to do. It’s a recent nostalgia, which has been what I’m calling it. Just want to go back and live their younger childhood.”

A number called "Counting On You," which wasn’t in the movie, featured the “jocks” and “braniacs” preventing Troy and Gabriella from auditioning for the callbacks with peer pressure. Another front and center act were Patrick Greer and Aniston Hill as Chad Danforth and Taylor McKessie, the best friends of the leads.
After nearly an entire year of work, the amazing vocals, acting, and dancing entertained people of all ages. Everyone is looking forward to seeing what Memorial’s theater department will come up with next year.
