When Andy Bursten said “road trip,” friends Phil Cohen, Larry Selzer and Brad Zucker said “in.” The group travelled to Dallas for the Rockets vs. Mavericks game in late April. Zucker found tickets right behind the Rockets bench, and they all bought beards channeling Rockets point guard James Harden at the Rockets gift shop. The friends mingled with other Houston fans and met former NBA stars Clyde Drexler and Calvin Murphy, as well as Les Alexander, owner of the Rockets, who thanked them for coming. It didn’t matter that the Mavericks beat the Rockets in a close game (final score 121-109); and even enjoyed 15 minutes of fame. Their photo was tweeted to Sports Illustrated’s main Twitter account, with over 1.1 million followers, and then retweeted by the official Rockets Twitter, with more than 700,000 followers. Pictured (from left) are Cohen, Bursten, Selzer and Zucker.
