Night crawlers

Gigi and Stewart Shapiro were near Memorial Park when they realized they were getting into very deep water after the May 25 Rockets game. They stopped, dozed and ventured out again, each time being turned back by the floods. After a 5 a.m. breakfast at a 24-hour McDonald’s, Gigi recognized a man standing by a stranded car. She called out, “Les, is that you?” He called back, “Do I know you?” She assured Les Alexander (Rockets owner) that they were fans. He jumped in their car, and they wove in and out of the streets until they found escape on Old Katy Road. Les was home an hour later. His car strayed away, and he had not found it before this writing.
