KC Pony Team in Burleson, TX
The Kyle Chapman Titans team, many of whom have been playing Little League together since they were 5 years old, went to the PONY League Zone Tournament (the winning team heads to the Pony 14-year-old World Series) starting last Thursday in Burleson, Texas. On Saturday, with one win and one loss under their belts, they had an 11 a.m. game, in which they beat the Central Austin Youth League Angels 13-8, then they played the San Juan PONY team at 6 p.m. and came away with a 13-3 victory! They ultimately finished as the runner-up in the Elite Bracket.
It was a long, hot day at the ballpark but the team and their families were excited about their victories. Afterward, they celebrated with fried and smoked chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, gravy, biscuits, biscuits and more biscuits. Their celebration was topped off with banana pudding, cherry cobbler and homemade pies, all at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Old Town Burleson.
The tournament was their last “baseball hurrah” for many of them before these long-time Little League friends head off to different high schools, including St. Thomas High School, Bellaire High School, Episcopal High School, Lamar High School, Strake Jesuit and The Kinkaid School. Their friendships are sure to hold strong after so many great memories together.
