Texas State Fair

The Texas State Fair kicks off today. Enjoy traditional Southern music, food and carnival games. This annual event is worth the drive. See the details here and save the date for more upcoming fall festivals. 

11th Annual Museum Day Live

Houston museums will be participating in Museum Day Live on Saturday, when participating museums emulate the Smithsonian institutions in DC by offering free admission all day. Participating Houston museums: The Holocaust Museum and The Printing Museum. See more details here.

8th Annual AIM for the CURE Melanoma Walk and Fun Run (5K)

Dress in anything that glows and head to the 8th Annual AIM for the CURE Melanoma Walk and Fun Run (5K). Proceeds benefit melanoma research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  There’ll be education and awareness information, food, children’s activities and more. See the details.

Oktoberfest Houston

Celebrate both German and Texas culture in this festival, which features local craft beers, great country music, activities, music and more. See the details. 

Bellaire National Night Out Kickoff Party 

The City of Bellaire is hosting national Night Out Kick Off Party in Bellaire Town Square. The Bellaire Police Department will be there to raise awareness for the Oct. 6th event. Come for the fun, food and games and stay for the Trolleywood movie: Guardians of the Galaxy! See the details.

Private School Preview 

Parents and prospective students: Meet with reps from Houston-area private and boarding schools from around the country in this free event on Sunday afternoon. More than 100 schools will be represented. Host schools: Houston Christian High School and St. Agnes Academy. See the details.
